Twos Club Golf Game

Also known as: 2s Club, Twos Pot, 2s Game

Twos Club is a popular golf side game where every player who makes a 2 (or net 2 with handicaps) on any hole earns a share of the pot. It runs alongside your regular round, adds a little extra excitement on par 3s and short par 4s, and pays out based on how many 2s are made. If nobody makes a 2, the pot rolls over or stays intact.

The Rules

  1. Before the round, each player contributes an agreed amount to the pot (e.g., $10 per player).
  2. Play your round as normal. Every time a player scores a 2 or better on any hole, they earn a “2.”
  3. At the end of the round, count the total number of 2s made across all players.
  4. The pot is divided equally among all the 2s. A player who made multiple 2s receives a larger share.
  5. If nobody makes a 2, the pot can roll over to the next round or be returned.
Any hole counts: A 2 can come from any hole — a birdie on a par 3, an eagle on a par 4, or even an albatross on a par 5. A hole-in-one on a par 3 counts as well, since it’s a score of 1 (which is better than 2).

Example Round

Ten players each put $10 into the pot ($100 total). After the round:

End-of-round results
Player A made 2s on hole 4 (par 3) and hole 12 (par 4) — 2 twos
Player B made a 2 on hole 7 (par 3) — 1 two
No other players made a 2.
Total 2s made: 3. Pot: $100.
Player A receives $66.67 (2/3 of the pot).
Player B receives $33.33 (1/3 of the pot).

Net vs Gross 2s

Twos Club can be played in two ways:

Gross 2s (default)

Only actual scores of 2 or better count. No handicap strokes are applied. This is the traditional way to play and keeps it simple — you have to genuinely make a 2 on the hole.

Net 2s

Handicap strokes are applied before determining if a score counts as a 2. For example, if a player gets a stroke on a par 3 and scores a 3, their net score is 2 — and that counts. This gives higher-handicap players a better chance of earning a share of the pot.

Tip: Net 2s work well for groups with a wide range of skill levels. Gross 2s keep things more competitive and reward pure shot-making.

Setting Up in Squabbit

To create a Twos Club game in Squabbit:

  1. Create a new tournament or casual game.
  2. Under format, choose Twos Club.
  3. To play with net 2s, enable handicaps in the game settings and choose Net Score or Compare With Lowest as the handicap usage.
  4. Optionally set up a purse to track the pot. Squabbit defaults to Split by Points, which divides the purse based on each player’s number of 2s.
  5. Add players and play your round. Squabbit automatically tracks which players make 2s and calculates the payout.
Note: Each player’s scorecard shows a 1 for every hole where they made a 2 (or better) and a 0 otherwise. The total is the number of 2s that player made during the round.
